Library Advocacy: How Can You Help?
LIBRARY ADVOCACY DAY IS FEBRUARY 28! The 2018 state budget proposes cuts that will bring NY library funding down to 2002 levels. Throughout the month, we will be featuring patrons who have shared with us why they #needUPL on our social media pages. Additionally, our director Ksana will take hard copies of the transcriptions with her to Albany to give to our state representatives. Want to tell us why you love your library? Email programs@trumansburglibrary.org and set up a time to have your photo taken and answer a few short questions.
Camera-shy? no problem! We have postcards available next to the circulation desk where you can write down why the library is important to you. Just hand it to the desk volunteer when you’re finished, and they will be delivered to the capital!
Tax Forms
The library has ordered State and Federal tax forms but they have not arrived. This post will be updated as soon as they are available.
Patrons may also print tax forms (but not instruction booklets!) free of charge from our computers. 2017 Federal forms are now online., but 2017 State forms are not yet available.
Free Tax Prep Clinics
In partnership with Lifelong, free tax prep clinics will be offered at the library for:
- Seniors 60+ (with spouses of any age)
- Individuals with disabilities
- Individuals with incomes below $32,000
- Families with incomes below $53,000
Wednesdays from 10am-1pm, February 7-April 11.
Returns are prepared by IRS trained and certified volunteers.
Please call 227-2321 to schedule an appointment!
The Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) program is sponsored by a grant from the Internal Revenue Service, support from the United Way, and financial underwriting by Lifelong.
Card Making Workshop February 3
UPL volunteers Laura and Suzanne will host a card making workshop on Saturday, February 3 in the library. Come by anytime between 11am and 1pm to make a card using the provided materials. If you like, you can bring some of your own materials to include such a ribbon, photo, letter, or sticker. This is a free program for all ages.
