Ithaca House Presents: Sonic Materials
September – October 2024
Ithaca House is a collective of poets, book artists, and musicians dedicated to interdisciplinary DIY arts practices as a means to foster grassroots community and initiate political change.
The “Sonic Materials” show seeks to connect our region’s literary, visual, and musical arts communities, fostering an inclusive space for collaboration, experimentation, and play. The displayed works emphasize print materials driven by a Do-It-Yourself ethos: independently published literary works; letterpress printed books and photocopied zines; and handmade prints and paintings. Several interactive stations will be available for visitors to listen, build, and do it themselves.
On Saturday, September 14, 10:30am-1:30pm, the public is invited to participate in hands-on activities throughout the library. Learn how to make paper from Kozo fibers outside under the tent; create and photocopy zines; and experiment with noise making. These projects will be appropriate for all ages (including children) and will be accessible for all abilities.
