“The colors and designs we choose will define and reflect our spirit and experience.” Hilary Gifford has been sewing since she was a child, and working as a full-time fabric artist since 1980. The beautiful quilt titled “Test Pattern” she has created for our raffle exemplifies her fascination with color, gesture, texture, and how they combine to influence our senses.
Tickets are on sale now at the circulation desk; $5 each or five for $20. The drawing will take place at the Ulysses Philomathic Library Associations’s 38th Annual Candlelight Dinner on November 2, 2019. All proceeds from the raffle directly benefit the library.

Finding Anna: The Archival Treasure Hunt into the Life of Anna Botsford Comstock
Finding Anna: The Archival Treasure Hunt into the Life of Anna Botsford Comstock
Thursday, August 15 at 6PM
Anna Botsford Comstock was a pioneer in the Nature Study Movement of the early twentieth century and notable pillar in the Cornell University community. She encouraged children to take ownership and responsibility for not only their immediate bit of nature within their own circumference, but to realize that they were also part of the larger ebb and flow of the natural world. Karen Penders St. Clair, Ph.D. spent five years researching the archival papers of Comstock, including the original manuscript to Comstocks of Cornell (1953), for her dissertation. St. Clair will present a discussion of her archival findings about Comstock and reintroduce to us this notable Ithacan.
As editor, Dr. St. Clair’s book, The Comstocks of Cornell: The Definitive Biography, is set for release April 2020.
