Kingian Nonviolence

Wednesday March 15 6-8 pm

Saturday April 1 10 am – 12 pm

Kingian Nonviolence is an approach to community building that utilizes values and methods from the US Civil Rights movement that are applicable for today’s issues. In Trumansburg we hope to develop a framework for addressing issues of social justice, equity, and inclusion. This workshop will be facilitated by Marie Benner-Rhoades. For teens and adults, no experience is needed.

Participants may attend either session. Registration is encouraged at https://www.onearthpeace.org/trumansburg_ny_introduction_to_kingian_nonviolence

Marie Benner-Rhoades (she/her) is a resident of Trumansburg School District (Town of Hector).  She is the youth & young adult peace formation director and a co-executive director of On Earth Peace.  Marie is a certified Level 1 trainer in Kingian Nonviolence Conflict Reconciliation.  She is also a trainer and consultant in anti-racism/anti-oppression organizing, especially focused on organizational change at the board level.  Marie serves on the Community Peacemaker Teams steering committee (international) and chairs the Open Doors English advisory board (Ithaca, NY).

“I turn to Kingian Nonviolence to provide a framework for organizing communities for justice and peace.  It provides a way to put our commitments and hopes into action while building relationships for a strong and resilient community.”
