Fire in our Forest
Saturday August 10th 10:30 am
Come learn about fire adaptation in YOUR National Forest with wildlife biologists, ecologists and wildland firefighters!
While wildfires are suppressed by firefighters to protect our homes and communities, some fires are intentionally lit to protect and enhance wildlife homes, or habitat, of fire-adapted natural communities. Prescribed fire is something wildland firefighters use to manage and enhance wildlife and pollinator habitat on the Finger Lakes National Forest.
There are many fire-adapted natural communities that need fire to be healthy resilient forests.
Best for early elementary children (K-6).
