On Thursday, July 28th at 6:30 pm, the library will host Cindy Rotella to speak about AIDS Ride for Life. Cindy Rotella is the Ride Coordinator of the Southern Tier AIDS Program. In this presentation, she will provide information about the AIDS Ride for Life fundraising bike ride, which begins in Ithaca, NY. Participants may ride 42, 90, or 100 miles around Lake Cayuga on Saturday, September 10th this year.

Get in the Game: READ!
Each Tuesday evening, the library will host a teen activity as a part of our Summer Reading Program, Get in the Game: READ! The series takes place from July 12-August 16th starting at 6:00 pm.

10 Cool Things about Women Swimmin’ for Hospicare
The library will host Melissa Dunham on July 21st at 6:30 pm for her presentation, “10 Cool Things about Women Swimmin’ for Hospicare.” As a part of the Summer Speaker’s Series, Exercise Your Mind, this will be an inspiring talk about a fundraising swim across Cayuga Lake.”
Early in the morning on Saturday, August 13 Cayuga Lake will turn into “a bowlful of bubbling mermaid stew” when more than 300 women will swim across the lake with Women Swimmin’ for Hospicare. Women Swimmin’ is a community swim (not a race!) to raise funds for Hospicare & Palliative Care Services. Now in its 13th year, Women Swimmin’ has earned a certain amount of mystique in our area. Melissa Travis Dunham will share her thoughts on what makes The Swim special. Melissa is Manager of Community Relations at Hospicare and has been involved with Women Swimmin’ for 6 years.
On Your Mark, Get Set… Read!
On Mondays at 10:30 am, the library will hold children’s programs throughout the summer (last day is August 15th). Activities such as Dog Agility, Library Games, and Stretch, Dance Read! are sure to keep participants’ minds and bodies engaged!
Hike! with Roger Fulton on July 14th
On July 14th the Ulysses Philomathic Library will host Roger Fulton to speak in the Melvin Community Room at 6:30. Fulton has published many books on hiking in New York State including Short Hikes in the Finger Lakes featuring many local trails in our area. This event is a part of Summer Speakers Series: Exercise Your Mind.
