Quilt Raffle
“The colors and designs we choose will define and reflect our spirit and experience.” Hilary Gifford has been sewing since she was a child, and working as a full-time fabric artist since 1980. The beautiful quilt titled “Test Pattern” she has created for our raffle exemplifies her fascination with color, gesture, texture, and how they combine to influence our senses.
Tickets are on sale now at the circulation desk; $5 each or five for $20. The drawing will take place at the Ulysses Philomathic Library Associations’s 38th Annual Candlelight Dinner on November 2, 2019. All proceeds from the raffle directly benefit the library.
Grant Writing Basics
Grant Writing Basics
Tuesday, August 13, 5:30-7:00 PM in the Melvin Room
Take this workshop if you have plans to apply for a grant! Robin Schwartz will provide participants with a clear idea of what is expected in grant requests, and how grant panels make decisions. Any grant process is extremely competitive, so writing a clear and effective proposal is critical. Robin is the Program and Grant Director at the Community Arts Partnership of Tompkins County, and has been administering grant programs (and writing grants!) for over 25 years.
No registration required.
We’re Hiring…a Dungeon Master (Yes, really!)
We’re excited to share that UPL applied for and was awarded a grant from the Myrtle Dee Nash Memorial Fund of the Community Foundation of Tompkins County to start a Dungeons & Dragons Book Club for teens here at the library! We are looking for a Dungeon Master to run a bi-monthly, age appropriate campaign from September 2019-May 2020. That’s right, you can get paid to play D&D. The ideal candidate will have experience running D&D campaigns and working with teens. If you or any of your fellow wizards are interested in applying, please send resume and cover letter to director@trumansburglibrary.org. Click on the full job description linked below for more information.
