The winners of the First Annual Youth Services Poetry Contest are Laik Uticone and Orion Vogel-Moore. Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this contest!
Here are their poems:
Aeepples
By Laik Uticone, age 11
I see a red ball up in the tree.
I feel the smooth skin,
I think it’s an Aeepple.
I taste the Aeepple, I smell its scent,
And I hear the bees buzzing
up in the Aeepple tree.
Aeepple!

Demons
By Orion Vogel-Moore, age 13
Diamonds come from coal,
sunny days have snow.
Dreams can turn to nightmares,
even perfect lives have their affairs.
Anything in life is possible,
No matter good or bad.
So go back to the demons,
you never thought you had.
Bad things in life are needed,
they simply are unique.
Because without these demons,
Pleasure is extinct.
